The ICU or ICM (in the USA) is a sophisticated safety aid for fire
fighters. It is part of the breathing apparatus and switches on
an Automatic Man Down alarm when the air is turned on.
It also provides additional information to the fire-fighter such
as Temperature, Time Remaining (based on actual breathing rates)
as well as data logging all pressures, temperatures and alarms for
later uploading via infra red link to a PC.
The ICU/ICM was designed for, and in conjunction with, MSA/Auer
of Berlin. The product, which is owned by MSA, is manufactured in
Berlin and sold around the world.
