Peter
Frank was born in London, England, in 1944. He was educated at Highgate
School, Sussex University, and the University of California, Berkeley.
His first degree (from the University of Sussex) is in Mathematics
and Physics. He received a Masters in Mathematics from the University
of California, Berkeley in 1967.
After leaving university he worked for Elliot Automation (a division
of GEC), Rank Xerox, and a small consultancy specialising in creative
problem solving techniques. He then started Product Innovation Ltd
with a view to inventing and developing new products as a career.
He has worked in this company ever since its founding in 1977.
This has led to experience both as a consultant in New Product
Development in a wide variety of industries, and as a Company Director.
The experience includes inventing new product concepts, developing
them to production, testing, debugging, commissioning tooling, monitoring
pre-production, and so on. His role as a Director has led to an
understanding of how to get things done as quickly and efficiently
as possible and also how to work with larger corporations so that
both parties profit from the association.
He also has experience in most areas associated with new product
development, such as patents, finance for development work, market
input to design, legal, contracts and licensing etc. His mathematical
background is useful in order to organise complex projects to their
simplest and neatest form, thus allowing the final product design
to be cost effective to manufacture, and easy for the end user to
operate.
In recent years he has also worked part time as a visiting lecturer
at Imperial College, London, giving lectures and tutorials in the
skills of New Product Development.
He speaks French and German and has travelled extensively in Europe,
the USA and the Far East. His home is in London.
